Hello, I am Jennifer Googins, Mississippi Gulf coast native, artist and current resident of Pass Christian
Mississippi. For more than 15 years I've used my artistic talents for canvas, decorative and mural painting, both
for myself and clients.
In early 2007 a friend, Nicholas Carter co-native and artist, and I were discussing Mississippi cutting art class
budgets for our public schools. An idea spawned of opening a fun, spirited place to teach art and creative
expression to kids! We spent months planning our objectives and goals focusing on designing a unique "club
like" atmosphere to teach in based on the members interests and requests.
With a "full palette" at the time, Nicholas was unable to join in the opening of our club in June of 2008. I am now
proud to have the co-creator of Abbey Road Art club joining as a permanent instructor and involved in the
planning of our new location opening this Fall. My sister Sabrina Groce, has been a dedicated instructor our art
club. She is a self-taught, gifted artist, resident of Gulfport and mother of three. My youngest sister, Sheila
Thomas, resident of Woolmarket, also teaches occasionally as a substitute teacher.
With our 2 year anniversary coming up, I am so proud to see our art club has grown in to what we had
envisioned, a fun creative place to explore the arts. We are always learning introductions to new crafts &
mediums with unique custom projects for each child every week. Every Saturday is always a whole new class.
We have really seen a lot of creativity blossom in the last two years. Having small classes of 6 or less children
per teacher has really allowed a lot of one-on-one instruction with the children. With members from across the
coast, our goal of spreading the word about the importance of art for children is well on it's way!
